Steps to build a patio fireplace made of bricks
Ø Select an area for the fireplace which should be free from plants and garbage. Location should be in such a way that, wind will not badly affect your fireplace. For that you can choose a place which is opposite to the direction of wind.
Ø To build a fireplace first you need to hollow out a square hole in the ground. Wooden pieces should be placed at the edges of the square hole. Fill a little cement inside the hole and place reinforcing steel rod into the wet cement. Continue putting more wet cement into the hole. This will create a strong foundation for the fireplace. Make sure to incline the base from the backside of the fireplace to the front side. Leave this for two days to get dry and firm.
Ø Make the bricks wet twenty hours before installing them, and put a coating of mortar in such a way that it fits with the actual face area of the brick. After the mortar is filled place the brick exactly on the top of the mortar.
Ø Next step is to build walls. This can be started from the corner sides with brick and mortar. Knock each brick into the mortar with a rubber hammer. This will help to fix the brick firmly into the mortar. After building the walls till required height place a sheet for shading purpose on the top of fireplace. Layer of mortar and bricks should be placed on the top of the sheet. Allow the new fire place to get dried for a couple of days.
